Winter Storm

We survived the winter storm that passed through last night! It was a combination of sleet/ice and snow which is going to make it very difficult for Jason to shovel the driveway... The road transportation crews actually urged people to stay home from work today because the roads were so bad this morning.

The snow is very pretty to look at and we are definitely in the Christmas Spirit.
I can't wait for my family to get here so they can enjoy a White Christmas!!

Baby Update:: Emma will be here soon and we are so excited to see her!!
I will post pictures as soon as possible!!

PS...I'm getting very nervous!!

Getting Close to Our Due Date

With less than two weeks to go we are getting very anxious!!
We installed the car seat today and I have Emma's diaper bag packed.
I got the cutest dress for her to wear in the hospital pictures (they have a professional photographer that takes newborn/family pics in the hospital) and I got her the cutest outfit to wear home. I am almost finished with our hospital bag-I hope to finish this tomorrow so we can put it in the back of the car.

I am now officially 38 weeks according to my doctor...(long story short about my due date--I think I'm due on Dec 24th but my doctor says Dec 28th)
I will see the doctor on Wednesday (I go every week now) and we are going to discuss the due date issue then.

I hope you are all doing well and we hope to have Baby Emma very soon!!

Pregnancy Photos

The Pregnancy Photos

Soooo....I couldn't figure out how to add a message to the blog with the photo slideshow.

These are a couple of the pictures we had taken in November while visiting Savannah.
They were taken by a good friend of mine--Nichole Barrali (www.nicholebarraliphotography.com) We had a great time taking these photos and do realize that if/when we have more children we will have to do this again.
Let us know what you think about the photos!!

I hope this message finds you all doing well.

Christmas Decorations

We have our Christmas Tree up and decorated. We have also decorated the outside of the house. With a couple weeks left, I have almost finished my Christmas shopping. I am looking forward to the family coming up for Christmas and we are definitely excited to meet Miss Emma Jane!! She has been very active and it feels like she is trying to kick her way out of the side of my stomach. I hope you enjoy the pictures. We got about 3 more inches of snow last night so I believe the snow in the yard is here to stay-it's very pretty to look at and gets us in the Christmas spirit.

Thanksgiving dinner

Our Thanksgiving Dinner was amazing. It took Jason and I about 2 hours to get everything cooked and ready but it was worth the waiting!!

Baby Update:: Everything is going well and we have about 3 weeks left. We toured the labor and delivery wing at the hospital-this was comforting and nerve racking at the same time. The hospital is well known for it's labor and delivery department and they are top of the line in neonatal care. It kind of made us nervous to be standing in the delivery room-to know we will be occupying that room within a couple weeks. I had a doctors appt yesterday-baby's heart rate is good-I will be seeing the doctor every week until we deliver from here on out.

Shopping for Thanksgiving Dinner

This is the first year that we will not be in Savannah for Thanksgiving.
So I'm going to try to make the traditional Thanksgiving dinner.
I went grocery shopping today for the long list of things needed to prepare
our favorite Thanksgiving dishes. I was there for almost 2 hours-it was crowded and it took me a while to locate some of the items on my list.
We will be having Ham (we are having Turkey for Christmas), Dressing, Sweet Potatoe Casserole, Cranberry stuff, and Nanny's famous pudding.
I am so excited to cook this Thanksgiving dinner-Jason and I have so much to be thankful for!!

We have a lot of our Christmas decorations already up (this is to beat the freezing weather and snow) and we will finish on Thanksgiving. We will probably get our tree on Wednesday so we can decorate it Thursday. Since Emma is due right at Christmas, we will not be traveling to Savannah. This will also be our first Christmas not in Savannah so we are decorating our house for the first time in a long time. We haven't even put up a tree the past couple of years. (BAH HUMBUG) This is the first Christmas season in our new house so we are really excited to get it decorated nicely.

Pregnancy Update::
In the last couple of weeks, I have been having a lot of lower abdominal pain and pain in my left leg-the Doctor assures me this is because of how Emma is laying. This pain makes it difficult for me to be as active as I like but I'm still trying to get my daily exercise and we are anxiously awaiting Miss Emma's arrival.
I have been blessed to have a great pregnancy-hopefully the last month will go by as fast as the first 8. We have everything ready and waiting on her.
I bought her the cutest stocking-now lets see if she arrives before Christmas.

I hope everyone has a great week and remember Thanksgiving is more than just a day off of work--lets remember to be Thankful for what God has blessed us with!!

Snow

Here are a couple pictures of the snow coming down...

We got our first little bit of snow for the winter this week. We got flurries on Sunday but it really came down Monday afternoon. It snowed for about 20 minutes and it was gorgeous. The snow has already melted but it will be back soon enough. We are always excited at the beginning of the winter...the snow never gets old...but the cold weather sure does!! By March we are looking for the warmer weather but unfortunately it doesn't get here till mid April.

So this is my first "blog"....

Jason and I are getting ready for Miss Emma Jane! We only have about 5 weeks left-YAY!

We had an ultrasound while visiting family in Savannah last weekend. Emma is estimated to already weigh 5.3 pounds (wow). She is very active and doesn't like to have her picture taken.

We couldn't get any face shots of her so we will have to wait a couple more weeks to see what she looks like. What attributes will she get from me and what will she get from her daddy-we have fun talking about this.

I am about to go shopping for all of the baby medicines-what fun. I also need to find some bottles-it's a lot harder than one would think!!

**Don't forget to go to expectnet.com (search wilkins) and put in your estimates for Emma's weight, length, birth date and time.
